Preparing Your Product Launch

You're about to launch a new product, and you want it to be the best possible. You want people to see your hard work and all of your effort.

Assuming you have created a product, you are now probably wondering how you prepare your business and your customers for the new product you are going to release.

The problem I see many of my clients encounter is not letting enough people know about their product launches. Many women struggle with self-promotion and telling the world about their offerings because they have these subconscious ideas of it being “bragging”, “masculine”, or “arrogant”.

Honey, the only thing you need to know is that not sharing your gifts and ideas with the world is arrogant. Your product could change someone’s life, how could you not be obligated to share that?

Keeping that in mind, here are some of the steps to prepare my business and my clients for a product launch:

Start Building Your List Early - The more time you spend building a list, the easier it will be when launching a new product. If someone is on your email list already, they are likely going to purchase from you again if they have an interest in what's being offered at this time.

Create Valuable Content Before Launch - In order to get as much traction as possible before launching your product, create valuable content that can serve as "exclusives" to those on your list. This will make them want to join the site and be part of the community you are building around this specific product launch.

Build a Marketing Funnel - You don't need an extremely complicated marketing funnel for products, but you do need one that serves its purpose so it drives customers through each stage of the funnel.

Create an Email Sequence - When you are launching a product, your email list should be at the top of your marketing strategy. Create an email sequence that will support what you have to offer and can help move people through each stage of the sales process until they purchase from you.

Start putting out small teasers through your social media.

If you don’t have any testimonials yet, you need to get some. Offer your clients a trade of your product at a reduced cost for their feedback and ideas. This is a great way to gather testimonials to slowly release and talk about on your social media channels to start to generate some buzz.

Mention your new product in your e-mail marketing.

Set up a series of auto-responders talking about the problems that your product addresses. Tell stories about your own struggles and how you overcame them, tying it back to your product that solves those problems.

Start mentioning your product in your blog posts.

Tell your readers a story about your life and how you overcame the problem that your product is addressing. If you have done the work of acquiring readers who are in your target market, they will easily relate to the problem you have.

One example is that I help business owners find clarity, so I tell stories related to how I finally broke through and found clarity within my own life and business. I had struggles that many of my clients can relate to.

Edit your final product.

Hire either an editor or designer if you have to, but make sure your product looks as professional as possible. Along with that, make sure that your check out site is flawless. You want to make sure that little to no technical errors happen when you launch and people go to buy your product.

Set up incentives.

There are many options for adding that special icing on the cake for those who support you. You could set up an affiliate deal, a percentage donated to a charity you support, or even some kind of deal for buying x amount of programs.

Focus on getting in front of as many people as possible.

Contact local media, past and current clients, people through all of your social channels, everyone in your LinkedIn contacts, set up some live Q & A chats, do free webinars, or whatever else would serve you and your marketing efforts toward your new product. The more creative and helpful, the better. Give people a reason to pay attention to you and your business or new product launch.

If you're tired of launching and hearing crickets, create a launch plan to determine goals, timelines, milestones and responsibilities for your product launches.

Keep in mind that your launch plan should be flexible enough to adjust your timeline depending upon the time you have available between development completion and launch date. They can also help you better identify potential obstacles that may arise during the development process.

The best thing to do is prepare, plan and then launch!
