Follow Your Dreams and Pursue Your Passion
We all have dreams and aspirations. And, for the most part, we know what we're passionate about. Whether it's writing, painting, acting, singing, or something else entirely, we each have that one thing that makes our heart sing. But too often, we let fear hold us back from pursuing our dreams. We let other people's opinions stop us from doing what we're meant to do. We tell ourselves that we're not good enough or that it's too late to start working towards our dreams. But the truth is, it's never too late. And your heart knows what you're meant to do. So listen to it. Follow your dreams and pursue your passions. And don't let anyone or anything hold you back from doing what you're meant to do.
In this blog post, I’d like to spotlight eight women whose success is a gentle and loving reminder that that life is too short to waste time doing anything else.
"The only way to do great work is to love what you do." — Steve Jobs
If you want to be successful, you have to be passionate about what you're doing. You have to believe in your ability to make a difference.
When you love what you do, it doesn't feel like work – it's something that you're driven to do every day. So find something that you're passionate about and pursue it with all of your heart.
It won't be easy, but if you're willing to put in the hard work, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
Jayne Hrdlicka, the CEO of Airtasker, says: "Your career is a marathon, not a sprint. It's about building skills, learning and adapting along the way."
So don't give up on your dreams. Pursue them with everything you have. And don't let anyone or anything stand in your way. Life is too short to waste time doing anything else.
This is something that Dominique Reighard-Brooks, the CEO of E.E. Ward Moving & Storage Company, knows all too well. "I've always been an entrepreneur at heart," she says. "I was never the type of person who wanted to work for someone else."
Dominique started her company in 2006 with just two trucks and a team of four men. Today, she has a fleet of 17 trucks and employs over 30 people. And she's showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
"I'm constantly thinking about new ways to grow my business and reach new heights," she says. "It's what I love to do. And I'm not going to let anything stand in my way."
This is a great attitude to have if you want to be successful in business. You have to be willing to take risks and follow your dreams. If you're not, someone else will.
So don't be afraid to pursue your passions. Follow your heart and see where it takes you. You might just end up surprised at how far you can go.
"The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them." — Ernest Hemingway
In any relationship, whether it's personal or professional, trust is essential.
If you want to build a successful partnership, you need to be willing to put your trust in the other person. This doesn't mean that you should blindly trust them – it just means that you should give them the benefit of the doubt and see how they respond.
If they are trustworthy, they will appreciate your faith in them and will work hard to maintain that trust. If they're not, then it's better to find out sooner rather than later.
There are a lot of barriers that American black women face when it comes to achieving success. But Kimberly Peeler-Allen and Glynda C. Carr are two black women who are working to break down those barriers and help other black women succeed.
"We started Higher Heights because we saw too many talented, intelligent black women whose voices were not being heard," says Kimberly. "We wanted to give them a platform to be seen and heard."
Glynda adds: "We want to help more black women get elected to office so they can create change from the inside."
Higher Heights is an organization that provides resources and support for black women who want to pursue careers in politics.
"Our goal is to get one million black women to vote in the 2016 election," says Kimberly. "And we're well on our way to achieving that goal."
If you're a black woman who wants to make a difference, Higher Heights is a great resource. With their help, you can pursue your dreams and achieve success.
"You have to be fearless. You have to be willing to take risks." - Beyonce Knowles
Beyonce Knowles is one of the most successful women in the world. And she didn't get there by being afraid to take risks.
"In order to achieve anything great in life, you have to be fearless," she says. "You have to be willing to take risks. And you have to be prepared to fail."
Beyonce knows that success doesn't come easy. You have to work hard for it. And you have to be willing to put yourself out there, even if it means failing along the way.
"I've failed over and over again throughout my career," she says. "And each time I've gotten back up and tried again. And each time I've gotten a little bit closer to my goals."
If you're afraid of failing, you'll never achieve anything great. So take a page out of Beyonce's book and go after your dreams with everything you've got. You might just surprise yourself at what you can achieve.
"If you want something you've never had, you must be willing to do something you've never done." — Thomas Jefferson
Change is never easy. But if you want to achieve success, you need to be willing to step out of your comfort zone and try new things.
Don't be afraid to take risks. Be willing to put yourself in new and unfamiliar situations. And most importantly, don't be afraid to fail.
Janice Bryant Howroyd, is founder and chief executive officer of The ActOne Group, the largest privately held, minority-woman-owned personnel company founded in the U.S. Howroyd is most well known as being the first African American woman to build and own a billion dollar company.
Ms. Howroyd's legacy is a lesson in embracing risk. She was not afraid to reach for the stars. She understood that with enough determination and hard work, anything is possible.
Tory Burch is one of the most successful fashion designers in the world. And she didn't get there by playing it safe.
She took risks. She tried new things. And she was willing to fail along the way.
And that's what you need to do if you want to achieve success in your own life. Don't be afraid to take risks and pursue your dreams. You never know where they might lead you.
"I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination." — Jimmy Dean
You may not be able to control everything that happens to you, but you can control how you respond to it.
No matter what life throws your way, you always have the power to choose your attitude and your response. So when adversity strikes, remember that you have the strength and resilience to get through it – no matter how hard it may be.
YveCar Momperousse, CEO and founder of wellness and social impact beauty brand, Kreyòl Essence, sources its key ingredients from Haiti.
Haiti is a country that has faced its fair share of adversity. But despite all the challenges, it remains a place full of hope and possibility.
"I believe in the power of the Haitian people," says YveCar. "I believe in their resilience, their strength, and their ability to overcome any obstacle."
If you're facing a difficult situation, remember that you have the power to overcome it. Just like the people of Haiti, you are strong and resilient. You can get through anything life throws your way.
"The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today." — Franklin D. Roosevelt
Don't let your doubts hold you back from achieving your dreams. Believe in yourself and have faith that you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
And always remember – the only thing standing between you and your success is the willingness to try. So go out there and give it everything you've got. You never know what you might achieve.
Lisa Price started Carol’s Daughter in her kitchen in 1993. She understood that achieving her dreams required hard work and dedication. And she was willing to put in the work to make her dreams a reality. In 2000, Lisa changed the natural haircare world by being one of the first to sell their beauty recipes directly to their customers via her website.
Today, Carol's Daughter is sold in stores all over the country. And Lisa Price is living proof that if you want something bad enough, you can achieve it. "I'm not saying it's going to be easy," she says. "But I am saying it's going to be worth it."
In conclusion, these 8 women have shown us that if you want to achieve success, you need to be willing to take risks and pursue your passions. So don't let anyone or anything hold you back from doing what you're meant to do. Follow your dreams and go after what you want in life. And never give up – because with enough determination and hard work, anything is possible.
