The Power of a Good Story

Tell the Story Only You Can Tell

How to use storytelling to connect, convert, and lead — without pretending to be someone you’re not.

Here’s what I believe:

You don’t need to dominate anything.

You don’t need to “crush” your market, “kill it” online, or “outrank” anyone.

You just need to be unforgettable — to the right people.

You do that with story.

Not spin.
Not strategy.
Not made-up drama or manufactured authenticity.

Real story.
True story.
Your story.

The kind that makes someone reading it say:
“This is different.”
“This is for me.”
“This is someone I want to learn from, buy from, or be around.”

That’s what we’re talking about here.

Why story works when nothing else does

You can talk about features and benefits all day long.

But what people remember is the moment you told the truth.
The time you admitted something that mattered.
The feeling they got when they heard your why — not just your what.

Story does what a list of outcomes can’t.
It builds trust.
It shows who you are.
It reminds people that you’re human.

In a sea of sameness, story is what creates connection.

Three stories you can start telling now

1. The Before and After

Where were you before you built this business, created this offer, or claimed this truth?

And where are you now?

This doesn’t have to be a rock-bottom moment or a miracle ending.
Just a simple before and after.

“I used to believe…
Now I know…”

Try that as a prompt.

2. The Client Journey

Forget testimonials that say “10x results” or “best coach ever.”

Tell me about a real person you’ve helped.

What were they struggling with?
What did you walk them through?
What shifted for them?

Stories like this don’t just show what you do — they show how you do it. And why it matters.

3. The Why Behind the Work

Why this offer? Why now?

What’s the personal reason you care?

Maybe it’s the version of you from five years ago.
Maybe it’s your family.
Maybe it’s a question you can’t stop asking.

Whatever it is — tell it.

Not because it sells.
Because it grounds everything else.

But what if I’m not a good storyteller?

You are.

You just might be overthinking it.

You don’t need a perfect arc or a viral hook.
You don’t need to be funny, dramatic, or profound.

You just need to tell the truth.

Start small.
Write like you speak.
Share one moment, one insight, one shift.

Let it be simple. Let it be human. Let it be yours.

Final thought

You don’t have to dominate your market.

You just have to connect with the people who are already looking for someone like you — but haven’t found the right words until now.

Your story might be the one that finally lands.

Tell it.

And let it do what only real stories can do — open doors, build bridges, and move people forward.
