Stop Trying to Be Like Them

Why replicating other people’s brand personalities is a trap you don’t need to fall into.

At some point, you’ve probably thought it.

“I should post more like her.”
“I need to sound more polished.”
“I should probably be more… fun? louder? edgy? chill? spiritual? boss-like? corporate-but-quirky?”

The internet is full of big personalities.
And when you’re building something of your own — especially a subscription, a membership, a business that depends on trust — it’s easy to think that mimicking what’s working for someone else will work for you too.

Here’s the truth:

Trying to become a slightly watered-down version of someone else will never build real loyalty.

It might get you a few likes.
It might even get you a few sales.

But long-term?
People can tell.
And more importantly — you can feel it.

It’s not your job to match anyone else’s energy.

Your job is to own yours.

You don’t need to sound like the bubbly coach.
You don’t need to copy the high-production content queen.
You don’t need to talk like the edgy founder with the black-and-white feed and the bold opinions.

Unless that’s actually who you are.

If it is — great.
If it’s not — stop performing it.

The moment you let go of the pressure to “show up like them,”
you create room to sound like you.

And that’s what people connect to. That’s what builds trust.

Want to know what’s magnetic?

Consistency.
Clarity.
Being unapologetically aligned with your own voice, values, and delivery style.

Whether you're high-energy or low-key.
Whether you speak in bullet points or stories.
Whether you post daily or once a month with intention.

Your audience doesn’t need you to perform.
They need you to mean it.

Your subscribers chose you.

Not a clone.
Not a trend.
Not a projection of who you think you're supposed to be.

They chose the way you explain things.
The way you support them.
The space you create.

So trust that.

Refine it, sure.
But don’t distort it.

You can grow without becoming unrecognizable.

Final thought

You don’t need to be the loudest.
You don’t need to be the funniest.
You don’t need to fit a brand archetype or copy anyone’s “voice.”

You just need to be clear.

Clear about who you are.
Clear about what you offer.
Clear about how you lead.

Because your business doesn’t need a personality transplant.

It just needs more of you — the real you.

Not curated. Not copied. Not competing.
Just consistent. Confident. Rooted.

And that?

That’s enough. That’s memorable. That’s magnetic.

That’s how you build something people actually want to stay subscribed to.
Because it feels like you. And it always has.
