Authenticity has No Competition

There are a lot of marketing books out there that talk about the need to be different and stand out from the competition. But how do you actually do that?

It's actually quite easy when you give yourself permission to lead, teach and inspire from an authentic place. Differentiation is key in marketing. It allows you to stand out from the competition and show your target market why they should choose you over anyone else. When it comes to differentiation, authenticity is the best policy. Being authentic means being true to yourself and your brand. It means marketing from a place of genuineness and sincerity. And when you do this, people will respond positively because they can sense that you are real and honest.

If you're ready to start marketing authentically, here are a few tips to help you get started:

Know thyself: It's important to know who you are as a person and as a business. What are your unique gifts and talents? What do you stand for? What makes you different from everyone else? Once you know these things, you can start to assemble them into a marketing strategy that will work for you.

Know thy customer: Take the time to get to know your target market. What are their needs and wants? What motivates them? When you tap into what matters to them, you can create marketing that is truly authentic and resonates at a heart level.

Be consistent: It's important to be consistent in your marketing message across all channels. This means that your website, social media, ads, etc., all reflect the same message. When you do this, it helps to build trust with your customers because they know that they can count on you to be authentic and honest in everything you do.

Craft a pleasant onboarding experience. When someone buys from you for the first time, make sure they have a great experience. This sets the tone for all future interactions and helps to create loyalty and repeat customers. Make sure you have a professional onboarding kit.

Meaning, it is important to remember that expressing your creativity doesn’t mean you must do something completely different from what everyone else is doing – it just means you do it in a way unique to you.

I’d like to share a quick example of this concept in action.  Please a closer look at your marketing collateral. Is your website, business card, digital magazine, social media channel a carbon copy of what is already in the marketplace? Are you simply regurgitating the same conversation as someone who offers a similar product, service or program? Do people say “Oh, you do exactly what so-and-so does?”

If so, you might ask yourself “How would my ideal client respond if  art, music, dance, photography, videography, movement, etc. were woven into my brand? What can I infuse into my brand experience that will usher my clients into feeling seen, heard, supported and understood? How can I integrate excitement, play and adventure into my brand? “

You can also survey your clients. Ask them “What would you like to feel, know and do? Would you like to explore this or that? How do you feel about this or that? What would you like more or less of? What brings you joy? What philanthropic endeavors warm your heart?”

The answers to these questions will help you get clear about what makes you unique and how you can authentically express your creativity. And when you do this, not only are you honoring the marriage of creativity and personal sovereignty – but also the divine within each and every one of your clients.

Creativity is a powerful force that has the ability to transform both the artist and the audience. When you infuse your creativity into your personal brand, you are not only honoring the marriage of creativity and personal sovereignty – but also the divine within each and every one of your clients. This is what sets you apart from everyone else in your industry. You become a unique voice that can’t be replicated. And this, my friends, is where the magic happens.

So how do you tap into your magnificence? By cultivating creativity and personal sovereignty, you create the foundation for an authentic life. This means being true to yourself, honoring your own voice and rhythms, and trusting that what is meant for you will find its way to you.

It takes courage to be authentic – but it is worth it. When you live your life inauthentically, you are living someone else’s dream, not your own. And this is a recipe for unhappiness and discontent.

But when you embrace your authentic self, you open yourself up to limitless possibilities. You become the architect of your life, and can create anything you desire. This is the power of authenticity – it has no competition because it is unique to you.
